Before Cooling Season, Fix the Screens Operators Hate "Spring is when HVAC complaints start showing up again because cooling season is around the corner. That is exactly when ugly graphics and weak alarms stop being cosmetic and start wasting time.

That is why this topic matters right now. A BAS programmer can make the logic work in WAGO and CODESYS, but the operator side still feels rough. That is a common frustration because WebVisu will do the job, yet it rarely looks polished out of the box. When weather changes, project loads change too. People stop talking in theory and start asking whether the screens are readable, the alarms make sense, the comms are stable, and the engineer on site actually understands what was built.

For that reason, I would use spring to run one clean exercise with CODESYS WebVisu with solid visualization styles, a shared color system, reusable faceplates, and clean image assets. Keep the scope tight. Map the tags, test the failure states, write down the sequence, and make sure another person could repeat it without guessing. Then spend a little time comparing the same job against an HTML5 layer or a move toward Ignition or WinCC Unified for the front end while keeping the control logic where it is. Staying inside CODESYS keeps the project compact, easier to deploy, and easier to hand over to another controls person. The tradeoff is that making it look modern can take real UI discipline and sometimes web skills. A separate front end gives you more design freedom and better visual polish. The price is more moving parts, more integration work, and one more thing to support at startup.

A lot of career growth in automation does not come from giant projects. It comes from repeating the basics until they stop being fragile.
