The Negative Binomial Theorem - Probability Theory - Lecture 17 (of 51)

Probability theory is the mathematical study of uncertainty, providing tools to model, analyze, and reason about random phenomena. In this course, students will learn the foundational principles of probability, including sample spaces, combinatorial methods, conditional probability, independence, and random variables. Beyond these fundamentals, we will explore probability distributions, expectation, variance, and limit theorems that form the basis for modern statistics and data science. This course can be used as a standalone Probability Theory course or to augment a university level course with additional explanations, examples, and lecture material. This lecture introduces the Negative Binomial Distribution.
