U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Election - Forth Round

During the fourth round of House Speaker elections, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) was elected as the 56th speaker of the House on Wednesday afternoon after Republicans finally united around a successor to ousted Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on October 3.

Here's the final vote breakdown (215 votes needed):

Mike Johnson (R): 220
Hakeem Jeffries (D): 209
Others: 0

Rep. Johnson, 51, was the Republican conference's fourth nominee in the past three weeks, following Reps. Steve Scalise (LA), Jim Jordan (OH) and Tom Emmer (MN), all of whom ended their bids after being unable to find a path to the gavel on the House floor.
