The 7.7-magnitude tremor hit northwest of the city of Sagaing at a shallow depth, the United States Geological Survey said. A 6.4-magnitude aftershock hit the same area minutes later.

మయన్మార్ లో ఇవాళ 7.7 తీవ్రతతో సంభవించిన భారీ భూకంపం విలయం సృష్టించింది. భారీ భవనాలు సైతం నేలమట్టం అయ్యాయి. మయన్మార్ లో పలు చోట్ల రోడ్లు బీటలు వారాయి. ఒక్కరోజులోనే మూడు వరుస భూకంపాలు ఈ చిన్న దేశాన్ని వణికించాయి. 

మయన్మార్ లో భూకంపం కారణంగా  ఇప్పటివరకు 182 మంది మృతి చెందారు. భవనాల శిథిలాల్లో చిక్కుకుని 370 మంది గాయపడ్డారు. సహాయ చర్యలు కొనసాగుతున్నాయి. క్షేత్రస్థాయి పరిస్థితుల దృష్ట్యా మృతుల సంఖ్య మరింత పెరిగే అవకాశం ఉందని అధికారులు చెబుతున్నారు.
