How to Multiply Rows and Columns in Excel

In this comprehensive Excel tutorial, you’ll learn how to use the powerful "=ROW() * COLUMN()" formula
to perform automatic calculations based on cell positions. This technique is extremely useful for generating
dynamic multiplication tables, creating patterns, and understanding how Excel handles row and column references.

The "ROW()" function returns the row number of a cell, while the "COLUMN()" function returns the column number.
When combined, they allow you to build formulas that automatically adapt depending on where they are placed in a worksheet.

For example, when you enter "=ROW()*COLUMN()" into a cell, Excel multiplies the row number by the
column number of that specific cell. This means if you drag the formula across rows and columns,
it will generate a structured multiplication grid without needing manual input.
