Grand Bassa, Liberia — In a heartfelt gesture aimed at improving healthcare facilities in Grand Bassa, Representative Clarence Banks has dedicated a significant expansion project at the Liberian Government Hospital Laboratory and made a generous donation to better serve the people of Grand Bassa.

During the event, Rep. Banks revealed that the hospital's laboratory had undergone an extensive expansion, complete with the installation of air conditioners, new window glasses, and glass doors. The laboratory's upgrade aims to provide a more comfortable and efficient environment for medical staff and patients alike.

"Administrators of the hospital told me that the beds were damaged, and I felt ashamed. So, we have brought two new beds for our women to use and deliver safely," said Rep. Banks. The two newly donated delivery beds, along with chairs for the maternity ward, were part of his effort to improve maternal healthcare in the County.

Rep. Banks also expressed his frustration with the state of the county's referral hospital, calling it unacceptable that a county as historically significant as Grand Bassa still struggles with inadequate medical facilities. “It doesn’t make sense to me to call Grand Bassa the second oldest county, and the referral hospital looks more like a clinic,” Rep. Banks remarked.

Dr. Jude Wesseh, the County Health Officer, praised Rep. Banks for his continued support of the county’s healthcare sector. "We are deeply grateful for Rep. Banks' dedication to improving the health services available to the people of Grand Bassa. His contributions have made a noticeable impact," said Dr. Wesseh.

Grand Bassa Superintendent Karyou Johnson also took the opportunity to commend Rep. Banks for his role in the County's development.
Recalling Banks’ ongoing contributions, including the purchase of earth-moving equipment, the donation of a surgical bed for the hospital, and the renovation of schools in District #2, Sup. Johnson lauded the lawmaker as a "developmental leader."

"Rep. Banks' efforts align perfectly with the government's 'Rescue Agenda' and demonstrate his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the people of Grand Bassa," Sup. Johnson added.

As the ceremony concluded, Rep. Banks reiterated his commitment to continuing his work in strengthening healthcare, education, and infrastructure for the benefit of Grand Bassa residents.

His efforts, marked by tangible improvements, underscore his dedication to uplifting his community and creating lasting change in Liberia.
