3 things no one prepared me for when I became an accountant, from someone who is now ACCA qualified.

1. The studying doesn't stop at university. After my degree, I had around another three years of exams and real work experience before I could actually call myself a qualified accountant.

2. I thought I was going to be rich. The reality of a trainee accountant's salary is very different from what you imagine when you start out.

3. People assume I know everything about money. The honest truth is that becoming an accountant teaches you how to manage a company's finances, not your own. I had to learn personal finance separately, and that is exactly why I started this channel.
