IVF-ல Pregnant ஆனாலே Twins தானா? Breaking The Myth
Breaking the Myth: IVF Doesn't Always Lead to Twins
🌸 Many people believe that IVF results in twins. Let me explain how this misconception arises.
In most standard IVF clinics, only two embryos are typically transferred during the procedure. Some patients may even have the opportunity to transfer more than two embryos.
I like to explain this to my patients using a simple analogy: Imagine a goalpost. If you kick the ball once, will it go in? If you kick it twice, which has a better chance of scoring? Kicking it twice gives you a higher probability of success.
Similarly, when two embryos are transferred, the chances of success increase. However, typically, only 30-40% of embryos implant and "stick." There is also a good chance that only one embryo will successfully implant.
It's important to remember that there’s also the possibility that neither embryo will stick. While the idea of twins can seem exciting, it’s essential to understand that the complication rates are quite high.
If you're concerned about potential complications, I suggest discussing the option of a single embryo transfer with your fertility doctor. If your health condition allows, this might be a safer approach. 🌿
