"The age of the sacrificial animal"

The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said:
“Only sacrifice a Musinnah (i.e., a mature animal). However, if it becomes difficult for you, then you may sacrifice a Jadha‘ah from among the sheep.”

Explanation according to the Hanafi school:

Musinnah refers to:

A goat or sheep that has completed one year.

A cow or buffalo that has completed two years.

A camel that has completed five years.
Jadha‘ah refers to:

A six-month-old sheep or ram that is healthy and appears like a one-year-old.
