Great Battles of the Reconquista - Covadonga 722

The Islamic Conquest under the Umayyad Dynasty arrived on the shores of the Iberian Peninsula in 711. At the Battle of Guadalete the Visigoth King, Roderic, was killed and his army destroyed. With little resistance, Muslim warriors captured nearly the entire Peninsula in a rapid campaign of conquest. But in the North, there are those who take a stand to fight back. Under a new leader, Pelayo, the last remnant of fighting men band together. At the Battle of Covadonga a new chapter is written and the Reconquista begins!
