'Suffragette City' - The Maggi Ronson Band at Bowie's Beckenham Oddity 2019

Closing 'Bowie's Beckenham Oddity 2019' on Saturday 17 August, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of 'The Growth Summer Festival 1969' ('Memory of a Free Festival'), where a relatively unknown David Bowie performed 'Space Oddity' on his acoustic guitar, is Maggi Ronson, younger sister of legendary guitarist and Bowie collaborator Mick Ronson.

On the eve of the event the bandstand (the stage for this and the original festival) in Croydon Road Recreation Ground was granted Grade II status. There is now a hope that the decaying structure will be saved and restored.

As an aside, I was at the 1969 event......as a very young boy.
