Tracing the Steps of General Stilwell (full program)

Follow Nya and Steven, the grandchildren of General Joseph Stilwell, on their journey to trace their grandfather’s footsteps in China. Share their joy, wonder, and excitement as they take their first steps on the road named after their grandfather: Stilwell Road.

Four-star General Joseph Warren Stilwell of the United States Army is best known for his service in the China Burma India Theater during WWII. For Nya and Steven, this trip provides a glimpse into the life of the grandfather whom they didn’t have a chance to meet. They visit General Stilwell’s home and office in Chongqing, touch the rocks from the original Stilwell Road in Yunnanyi, and take a ride down Stilwell Road in Yongping county, Yunnan province.

Join them as they have drinks at the Stilwell Road Bar in Yongping County, and dine on unusual, wild vegetable dishes at the ancient town of Heshun. Discover the history of Stilwell Road, and how, to this day, General Stilwell’s legacy still lives on.
