In this episode, Saurabh Dwivedi talks about Daniel Ortega’s 4th consecutive win in the election for the post of president of Nicaragua. Ortega has secured more than 75 per cent of votes in the election.

Ortega’s victory was all but assured before citizens cast their votes on Sunday, with only a handful of little-known candidates standing against him and the opposition challengers considered his biggest would-be threats in prison.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said his country will work with other democratic governments and was ready to use a range of tools, including possible sanctions, visa restrictions and coordinated actions against those it said were complicit in supporting the Nicaragua government's "undemocratic acts."

Nicaragua was once a colony of Spain. In the later part of history, it was badly influenced by the US. Daniel Ortega began his career as a rebel against the US-Sponsored Somoza government. He got power in 1984 but was defeated in the 1990 elections. Ortega returned to power after 16 years. And now, He is the unchallenged dictator of Nicaragua. He is repeating the same things which he fought against.
