В июле 1975 года с космодрома Байконур стартовал космический корабль «Союз-19» с космонавтами Алексеем Леоновым и Валерием Кубасовым. Через семь часов с мыса Канаверал отправился в космос «Аполлон-18» с астронавтами Томасом Стаффордом, Вэнсом Брандом и Дональдом Слейтоном. Это было начало орбитальной части уникальной программы ЭПАС, более известной у нас в стране как «Союз-Аполлон». Программе «Союз-Аполлон» суждено было стать прообразом Международной космической станции и символом сотрудничества в космосе.

The spacecraft Soyuz-19 with cosmonauts Alexey Leonov and Valery Kubasov aboard lifted off the Cosmodrome Baikonur in July 1975. Seven hours later Apollo-18 was launched from Cape Canaveral with astronauts Thomas Stafford, Vance Brand and Donald Slayton. That was the commencement of the orbital stage of a unique programme ASTP more commonly known in our country as Soyuz-Apollo. This programme was doomed to become a prototype of the International Space Station and a symbol of cooperation in space.

L'astronef Soyuz-19 avec les cosmonautes Alexeï Leonov et Valery Kubasov à son bord a pris le départ du Cosmodrome Baïkonour en juillet 1975. Sept heures plus tard Apollo-18 a été lancé du Cape Canaveral avec les astronautes Thomas Stafford, Vance Brand et Donald Slayton. C'était le commencement d'une étappe orbitale du programme unique ASTP désigné dans notre pays plus habituellement comme Soyuz-Apollo. Ce programme a été prédestiné de devenir un prototype de la Station Spatiale Internationale et le symbole de la cooperation dans l'espace.
