Most International Adoptions Countries 1953~2019

Why are so many Korean Americans adopted? Since the United States is the largest receiving country this video shows which country sends the most international adoptions. The international adoption of South Korean children started as a result of a large number of orphaned mixed children from the Korean War after 1953.

In 2019, the top sending countries for children adopted by US citizens were China, Ukraine, Colombia, India, and South Korea. The average cost range for international adoptions is $20,000-$40,000.

Note that children from unknown countries from 1953 to nearly 1990 are excluded.
