GLF2 - Deep Ripping Up Close

In this video, our dozer operator is about halfway through deep ripping the soils at GLF2 with a Caterpillar D10 bulldozer. This machine produces 700 HP and weighs over 150,000 pounds! This degree of power is required to pull the ripper shank that reaches 6 feet underground through the soil. The dozer moves at about ~1-2 miles per hour while ripping. Over a 160 acre block (1/2 mile x 1/2 mile) ripping takes days. We were pleased with the speed at which our contractor ripped - the entire 160 acres took 176 hours.
