How To Make Foam Masks for LARP and Cosplay

I show you how to make cosmetic foam masks. It can be used for LARP, cosplay, or even short movies like here!

These masks are purely cosmetic, as you can imagine. They do not offer protection of any kind, the project itself being older than the pandemic. You could eventually wear one on top of a real mask for fashion though, even if that wasn't the goal here.

This is the second episode in the "Handmade with Chaos" series: how to make masks out of foam at home! It dives into the wonderful world of wasteland-style painting. I start by presenting the context: a post-apocalyptic short movie project. Then I show how I made a rusty gaz mask during a live stream on Twitch. I take the time to explain the painting process, using a variety of techniques such as latex masking, fake rust, and dry brushing. The second part is dedicated to a more tactical mask. I describe a very useful technique for foam armor called "undercuts". This might help you make your own post-apocalyptic costume. This video took a ridiculous time to make (as it was my first dive into anything remotely related to animation), and I hope you'll appreciate it!
