139-year-old San Francisco Victorian home is moved by truck 7 blocks to a new location

A 139-year-old San Francisco house got a brand-new address - seven blocks away, thanks to an extensive team of engineers and construction workers.

Early on Sunday (February 21), the mint green Victorian house was loaded onto a flatbed truck and moved from its lot on Franklin Street to its new home, several streets away on Fulton Street. Spectators turned out to cheer and take pictures as the 5,000 square foot (465 square meters) house began its journey to its new location. At several points, construction workers were needed to cut back branches so the house could pass down some of the city's tree-lined streets

The house, which needs massive repairs, sits on a prime lot - so valuable its owner has sold the property to a developer who plans to build condos on the site, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

According to the consultant overseeing the project, the move cost approximately $200,000 and involved removing street lights, parking meters, and utility lines
