2022 GWM King Kong Cannon in-depth Walkaround

Also referred to as the King Kong Poer, the new long-wheelbase pick-up is the third new-generation 'Cannon' ute in GWM's Chinese range and is believed to be a more commercial-oriented alternative to the GWM Ute currently sold in Australia.

The interior is nice enough for the segment, with a digital instrument panel and a modestly sized central touch screen for the infotainment. The design of the air vents is kind of hip.

The King Kong Cannon will be available with two engines: a 2.0 turbo with 197 hp and a 2.0 turbo diesel with 165 hp. The gearbox is a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic. Power goes to the rear wheels only.

Enough space for three adults in the back. The King Kong Cannon is a large car: 5635/1880/1815, with a 3410 wheelbase. The size of the cargo box is 1820/1500/495. Max load capacity is 500 kilos, in line with other pickup trucks in the segment.

The Great Wall King Kong Canon is positioned between the real ultra cheap and super basic workhorse pickup trucks and the more luxurious passenger-car style pickup truck. That segment is fast becoming very popular in China so it is a good place to be for Great Wall. The price is great too
