Accents and idiolects

What is an accent and an idiolect? Although we intuitively know what an accent is, there is more to it than just a way that people sound in different parts of the country. Idiolects are the speech habits unique to a particular person. Both accents and idiolects have social and cultural components with implications in linguistic bias and stereotyped perceptions.
