BAROLO and BARBARESCO Wine Tasting - Italy Slow Travel

Piemonte is known for its 3 famous wines: Barbera, Barolo and Barbaresco. We had previously tasted (and loved) the Barbera so today we decide to try both Barolo and Barbaresco.

Both of these 100% Nebbiolo wines are high in tannins which is mitigated by a longer aging prior to bottling. We start out with the town of Barbaresco, very small and cute. The wine is very enjoyable and full of flavor.

Next on our list is Barolo, a much larger and cuter town. Debbie falls instantly in love and a 'I could live here' is heard very quickly. We try the Barolo with a wonderful meal in the town of Barolo. Liberal portions of black truffle make this a very memorable meal and experience. The Barolo wine is a bit bold for us but still an excellent choice for a dark meat dish.

Last but not least is the town of La Morra for the spectacular views. We really enjoy the scenery and finish off our day with a gelato.
