Google Drive users who are part of Workspace can now take advantage of a new Gemini AI feature that allows them to gather information about the videos they have saved without having to watch them. This feature, which was originally used to summarize documents and PDFs, has now expanded to include video files as well.

Gemini in Drive provides users with a chatbot interface that can quickly provide summaries of video content or pull out specific information from the videos. For example, users can ask Gemini to highlight action items from recorded meetings or point out key updates and new products in an announcement video. This feature saves users time that would have been spent watching the entire video and taking notes.

In order to use this feature, captions must be enabled for the videos, and users can access it through Google Drive's overlay previewer or a new browser tab window. Currently available in English for Google Workspace and Google One AI Premium users, as well as those who have previously purchased Gemini Business or Enterprise add-ons, it may take a few weeks for the feature to fully roll out to all users.

This new feature can be particularly useful for users who need to find specific information within lengthy meeting recordings. In addition, Google is also rolling out a new feature that shows engagement data for Drive videos. Users will now be able to see how many times a video has been opened within the Analytics section of the Details panel, giving them valuable insights into the performance of their video content.

With these new features, Google Drive users can now gain more insight and efficiency when it comes to managing their video content. By using the Gemini AI feature, users can quickly gather information about their videos without having to watch them in their entirety, saving them time and enhancing their overall experience with Google Drive.
