70 Mile Per Hour BNSF Trains Through Newberry Springs HD

Watch in High Definition! The BNSF Needles Subdivision in Southern California is a 168 mile long stretch of the BNSF Southern Transcontinental Rail Line. It connects the towns of Barstow and Needles, California and traverses the vast expanses of the Mojave Desert. The line sees heavy traffic on a daily basis, consisting of trains travelling to and from Southern, Central, and Northern California. Just east of Barstow, the railroad makes an almost perfectly straight and level run across the desert from Daggett to Hector, about 20 to 25 miles. Through this stretch, trains are able to travel at high speed, with a maximum authorized track speed of 90 MPH for passenger and 70 MPH for certain freight trains. This video shows three BNSF trains doing every bit of 70 through Newberry Springs, about 20 miles outside of Barstow.
