Remove and Insert Skateboard & Longboard Bearings

When cleaning skateboard bearings it's always best to take the bearings out of the wheels.

For bearing that are really hard to get out of the wheel, try prying in different spots to wiggle the bearing out.

No bearing tool is more accurate than the axle of a skateboard truck to install bearings, or take bearings out of a wheel. Bearing presses at a shop or on a tool don't always set the bearings in a wheel flat. Because of this, why not use the one thing the wheels are going on anyway? The axle is by far the best tool for removing bearings from a wheel.

HOW TO PUT SKATEBOARD BEARINGS IN A WHEEL.
1. To put bearings in a wheel slide one bearing on the axle.
If you have bearings with only one shield or seal, have the open side without a shield or seal face inside the wheel.

2. Put the wheel on the axle, and push down hard until the bearing is snug inside the wheel.

3. If you have bearings spacers, use them. If not, repeat steps 1 and 2 for the other bearing.

4. Place a small axle washer on each side of the wheel. One against the truck hanger, and one against the axle nut.

5. Tighten the axle nut on the alxe. If you use bearing spacers you can tighten the nut down tight.
If you don't use bearing spacers, give the wheel a little bit of room to spin. This means not tightening the axle nut tight against the bearings.
If you were to tighten the axle nut down tight against the bearings without a bearing spacer the wheels won't spin. You can crush and damage the bearing beyond repair.
HOW TO REMOVE SKATEBOARD BEARINGS INSIDE A WHEEL.
1. After removing the axle nut and washer, hold the wheel on the axle just enough so only one bearing is on it.

2. Use the axle to pry the bearing out by pushing down hard to one side. You may need to move the wheel a little and pry in different spots to kind of wiggle the bearing out.

3. There are only 2 steps. It's that easy.
