Shadow IT refers to Information technology systems, apps, or hardware deployed in departments other than the central IT department to get around the shortcomings of the central information systems.

Shadow IT has many upsides to it: increased productivity, and an ability to reinvigorate old-school workflows. However, some Shadow IT applications in your infrastructure can put a hole in your business’s security.
