First sun of the year

Where we live, the town of Ísafjörður, we're surrounded by mountains. Iceland is located far up north on the planet, which means that during winter, the sun's peak during the day gets lower and lower.
For about two months, the sun isn't able to go higher than the mountain tops surrounding us. That means we don't get any sunlight that whole time.
Every year on January 25th around 2:30-3:00pm, the sun finds itself going just above one part of the mountains and shine on our town.

We went out to capture some of the mood from this beautiful day.
