Gordie Howe International Bridge - Wind Tunnel Testing

At 2.5 km / 1.5 miles, with a clear span of 853 m / 0.53 miles, and bridge towers rivalling the height of Detroit’s Renaissance Centre, the Gordie Howe International Bridge is an impressive engineering feat.

The bridge is being built to have an operational life of 125 years and is designed to accommodate traffic volumes and growth over the long term. To ensure the structural integrity of the bridge design, WDBA and Bridging North America engineers recently conducted wind engineering testing at the RWDI laboratory in Guelph, Ontario.
