Bjorn compares the measuring technique of pencil measurement with the proportional divider. Drawing with the proportional divider, one can arrive at correct overall proportions without some of the inaccuracies inherent in pencil measurement. This technique is both easier and more effective than the grid method or pencil measurement to arrive at correct proportions. It get's the artist out of "drawing in squares" mode and allows the artist to use much more natural technique for accurate drawing. And most importantly, no squares to grid!
