In the tropical Peruvian heat, the hidden and dark side of a powerful industry unfolds : that of illegally-mined gold. Mass deforestation, poisoning of the soil and people, trafficking of all kinds : the disaster of this business can be seen at every scale. But does that mean the Amazon Forest is doomed ? In his master’s thesis, Martin chose to study this issue that is dear to him. In his talk, the current Ecole Des Ponts student will unveil his thinking process throughout his work as well as the secrets to building a positive business model. What if the solution he found could pull the people of the Amazon out of illegality and desolation ? After working in several ministeries and managing various large-scale infrastructure projects in his home country of Peru, Martin Zeballos Toledo, a young civil engineer, decided to further his education by studying infrastructure project finance at l'Ecole des Ponts in France. Today, he specializes in the financial modelling and optimization of sustainable and renewable energy projects.
