12 - Death Valley to Oakhurst

Day 13 & 14 of our USA Road Trip.

Once we packed our luggage from our AirBnB, we headed toward Death Valley, at Death Valley Junction we encountered rain for the first time, by the time we reached the Death Valley National Park Sign, the thunderstorm was brewing down the valley, then we headed toward Dante’s View. It was barely 15 degrees Celsius by the type we reached the view point.

Then we reached Furnace Creek Visitor Center to collect maps, validate our passports and collect our parking dashboard post. The Rangers informed us that Rainbow Canyon was closed following a mudslide but others Points of Interest until Badwater were open.

We reached Badwater Salt Flats temperature was a nice 24 degrees Celsius, from there we went thru the Artists Palette Loop Drive then Golden Canyon to end our day visit at Zabriskie Point before reaching our hotel at Furnace Creek.

After a good night rest, we took the direction of Mesquite Flats Sand Dunes and our breakfast at Stovewell Pipes. As the Tioga Road was still closed, we took a grueling 600 km drive by Olancha, Lake Isabella, Bakersfield, Fresno until our next stop in Oakhurst.
