Dr. Jake Kushner - 'Low Carbohydrate Nutrition For Type 1 Diabetes: A Practical Guide'
A nationally renowned expert in type 1 diabetes research, Dr. Jake Kushner’s primary focus is to leverage existing and future medical-related investments and resources for McNair Interests to help individuals with chronic illnesses. A McNair Scholar and Associate Professor at the Baylor College of Medicine from 2011 to 2017, Dr. Kushner’s research has been widely supported including by the National Institutes of Health and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Prior to joining McNair Interests as Medical Director, Dr. Kushner served as Chief of Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology at the Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, TX. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, Dr. Kushner earned his medical doctorate from Albany Medical College followed by: a pediatrics residency at Brown, pediatric endocrinology fellowship at Children’s Hospital Boston, a five-year research fellowship at the Joslin Diabetes Center (both at Harvard Medical School), and seven years of Assistant Professorship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Kushner has received numerous national honours including: a Basil O’Connor Award from the March of Dimes, elected membership to the American Society of Clinical Investigation, and having served as President of the Society for Pediatric Research.
