Marc Ellington [ UK - Folk Rock/1972] Jacobite Lament (A Celtic Dream) (LYRICS)

From: A Question Of Roads 1972
LYRICS:
On a greatest sand retain in a land so far away in a time that never seem quit true
an old man walks beside the sea searching for his destiny
you'll never find it working there alone ,
and the tide of his eyes are running dry
he knows it keeps on walking by

somewhere in his brighter past
there wasn't like he held it fast
those who kept it's burning or now gone
situation of his birth gave him direction and the words

A destiny never quite fulfill
but he gave all he had to the dream
that the cost that caught his own

Is growing a strength up on the field
gave him the power now to will
strong arm that he felt was rightly his

the crown inceptor of the State
he’s alone they are somewhat late
the Celtic dreams of long nights have come true
and the White Rose and thistle grow as one
in an oak that seems stronger than the gun

cross the Southern border to a land they look for Hope
finding only dissolution no longer could they cope
Betraying northward in the mist
thinking on the chance they missed
chance they never really had at all

The ship of sorrow reach the shore
he disembark nevermore
to see the land he hope to call his own
a lost crown lying at his feet
he walks the shows now in defeat
failing not as human I might be
and the dream was lost on that day
when the white was blooming far away
