Today, despite its protective status, one third of the world’s land reserves are under threat from human activity. It’s hard to stop humans from destroying our planet, but we can stop the machines they use. In collaboration with NGOs from all over the world, the São Paulo and Melbourne Studio from AKQA, an ideas and innovation company, launched an open source software update that restricts the use of heavy-duty vehicles in protected land areas. You can't stop humans from destroying our forests, but you can stop the machines they use. After being recognized World’s best copywriter at the 2013 Cannes Lions where he won Latin America’s first Titanium Grand Prix with Dove Real Beauty Sketches, Hugo Veiga co-found the São Paulo studio from AKQA, an ideas and innovation company. Since then, he led creative projects for companies like Google, Netflix Nike and Ambev; and artists like Usher, Elton John and Lady Gaga. In 2019, at Cannes Lions, AKQA was recognized Latin America’s Agency of The Year for its continuing innovative product and communications solutions.
