Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on the early modern history and history of the United States of America continues with a new series on the Civil War. The first shots were fired with the Bleeding Kansas in 1854–1861 and John Brown's raid on Harpers Ferry in 1859, but the war started with the Confederate secession and the attack on Fort Sumter in April of 1861 and the first battle of Bull Run in July of 1861 (https://youtu.be/akciSbEka_E). In the aftermath, Lincoln and his commander McClellan launched the Peninsula Campaign, hoping to take the Confederate capital of Richmond during the Seven Days Battles and win the war quickly. (https://youtu.be/7ky86GF-cW0). These events allowed Lee to go on an offensive, leading to the second battle of Manassas (Bull Run), Cedar Mountain and Antietam (https://youtu.be/RNUA2vEklIQ). The war continued with the battles of Chancellorsville and Fredericksburg in 1862 (https://youtu.be/2FWziwTQOFA), and the hostilities peaked at Gettysburg in 1863 (https://youtu.be/HXPYeONfF90). In episode 7, we described the naval theater of the war, including the birth of the ironclads and the Battle of Hampton Roads (https://youtu.be/phL_VOwjTtQ), while episode 8 turned towards the western states, as we discuss the events in Kentucky and Missouri, Ulysses Grant enters the war and the battle of Fort Donalson takes place (https://youtu.be/eB21WzUCgWI). The Confederates go on a desperate counterattack at Shiloh, Corinth and Stone’s River.
