Australia ‘always been’ an important ally to the United States
Howard University Assistant Professor Dr Niambi Carter says Australia and the United States have “learned a lot” from each other in terms of managing issues such as immigration.
“Australia has always been an important ally, if you will, for the United States,” Dr Carter said.
This comes as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wrapped up his official visit to the US after attending a state dinner with President Joe Biden in Washington DC.
Dr Carter says the meeting between the two leaders was “scaled-down” due to the international implications of the conflict in the Middle East.
“President Biden has indicated for some time that he wanted to deepen relationships with Australia so this state visit was one step towards that.”
