The one year Genshin Impact Anniversary is finally around the corner and Mihoyo has just announced the rewards that are upcoming. Except instead of being a time to celebrate, the community and players are in disarray after the events turned out to be horribly underwhelming.

To be honest, the lack of rewards are absolutely nothing new and are part of a greater systemic problem that Mihoyo has never bothered addressing ever, it is just that we are at a point where everything is boiling over and players are finally beginning to riot. Unless we as players speak up and work together then nothing will ever change. We will have to speak with both our platforms and our wallets.

This video was not made for the sake of piling on the genshin drama train, but as more of a segway to for me to talk about an issue that has been plaguing this game since launch that I’ve never been able to speak about. The only reason why Mihoyo gets away with this nonsense is because not enough people are speaking out to call them out and the people that they really care about, aka whales, aren’t caring enough to speak up either. Add on the fact that they don’t pay attention to the global community and you have a giant mess that will never get solved any time soon unless major change happens. This is literally a billion dollar company acting like the studio that made Among Us with 3 people.

From the lack of any proper log-in rewards, to the nerfing of rerolling, to the lack of respect to artists and cosplayers, every single decision Mihoyo hasn't been making has hurt every single player of the game, from f2p to low spenders and beyond. This is a massive kick to the face and it really feels like they do not at all care about the community, but moreso just see us as cash cows to milk for as long as possible.

Sylph Notes: So fun fact, I started working on what I wanted to say for this video many months ago but never got around to actually finishing it so with mihoyo continuing to be stubborn and stingy I decided to bite the bullet and finally make the video. I cut out a lot for the sake of time to add in the new stuff but my points still stand and I’m still frustrated that they think they can get away with this because there’s not any other competition. Unsure if I’ll make more videos about the state of unfinished new characters but not going to lie that’s also disappointing, but it’s hard to worry about since I don’t even have the rolls to get new characters reliably anyway.

With Inazuma coming in 2.0 the real question is, will leaks ruin the game? In the battle of Tectone vs Mattjestic which side comes out on top? There’s pros and cons after all. Or how about the other age old debate, pay to win (whales) vs. free to play? One one end you have Mtashed, Enviosity and Dish repping f2p nation while on the other end you have Tenha, OkCode, Xlice, Tuonto, AsianGuyStream (Atsu) and Sekapokko that go full ham C6 every new banner. Either way I hope you are looking forward to Offline TV’s LilyPichu as she joins the cast of Genshin Impact as the voice of Sayu. What’s next? Maybe someone like Pokimane or Sykkuno will voice a future character. Youtube’s own Bwaap perhaps? But with the Genshin 1 year anniversary around the corner the real question is, will we get more than 108 primogems from Mihoyo? Can Raiden Shogun (Baal), Kokomi and Kujou Sara save the game?
