Most early-stage founders make the same mistake: they reach out to 5 people, get 5 "no's" (or worse, silence), and decide their product doesn't work.
Here’s the hard truth: That isn’t a signal. It’s a rounding error.
If you want to build something that actually scales, you have to start by doing things that don't scale. In building in public, "Volume" is your best friend and your only real way to find product-market fit.
💡 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬:
Don't stop at five. Don't stop at ten. If you aren't hitting a 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐟 20 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 , you aren't talking to your customers enough.
𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬:
𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐯𝐬. 𝐍𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐞: You need a larger sample size to know if your solution actually solves a pain point.
𝐇𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: Customer outreach shouldn't be a "one-off" task; it needs to be a regular habit.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫: More conversations = faster iterations.
Early-stage building is about grit and high-frequency communication. Keep your volume up, keep your ears open, and stop letting a handful of "no's" kill your momentum.
Are you hitting your 20 conversations this week? Let’s talk about your outreach strategy in the comments! 👇
