Row 1
Ch 3 (counts as first dc). 2 dc into the loop. Ch 2. 3 dc into the loop.
Row 2
Ch 3. Turn your work. 2 dc into the first stitch. 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc into the center ch-2 space. 3 dc into the last stitch (the 3rd chain of the turning ch-3 from the previous row).
Row 3
Ch 3. Turn your work. 2 dc into the first stitch. 3 dc between the granny clusters across to the center. In the center ch-2 space work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc). Continue working 3 dc between clusters across. Work 3 dc into the last stitch (the 3rd chain of the turning ch-3 from the previous row).
Rows 4–14
Repeat Row 3 until you have a total of 14 rows (crochet less/more rows to customize the size. I do 14 rows for a standard adult size bandana). Do not fasten off.
Ruffle Border
Ch 1. Sc in first stitch and next stitch. Picot stitch in 3rd stitch (sc, ch 3, sl st) in same stitch. Sc 2, picot stitch. Repeat until the end of the row, creating a picot stitch in the corner of the bandana (see video tutorial for a visual).
Strap
Once you complete the border and are at the top corner, ch 51. Starting in the 2nd ch from hook, sl st into each back bump across the chain.
Top Edge
Sc evenly across the top edge of the bandana.
Second Strap
Ch 51. Starting in the 2nd ch from hook, sl st into each back bump across. Fasten off and weave in ends.
