Raag Bihag is a melodious and enchanting raga in Indian classical music, traditionally performed during the late evening. It belongs to the Bilaval thaat and evokes a mood of joy, romance, and serenity. Characterized by its harmonious blend of shuddha (natural) and tivra (sharp) notes, Bihag showcases a delicate interplay of Rishabh (Re) and Pancham (Pa) with distinctive meends (glides) and intricate ornamentations. The raga’s unique structure includes the use of both Madhyams (Ma) in ascending and descending phrases, adding depth and charm. Celebrated for its uplifting and soothing essence, Raag Bihag is a favorite among audiences and performers alike.
