What Notes are the Zodiac Signs and Planets?

This correspondence system for musical notes, or keys, has its roots in esoteric research and occult mystery school teachings. Various approaches for attributing pitch to color can be found in esoteric writings from ancient Greece, Isaac Newton, and composer Alexander Scriabin.

The color arrangement for this keyboard follows the Marcotone system – a creation of Edward Maryon in the early 20th century.

Paul Foster Case, also from the early 20th century, is credited for the system that assigned specific notes to the letters of the Hebrew alphabet based upon their arrangement in the Sepher Yetzirah (3 Mother, 7 double, and 12 single letters).

This opened doors to correlate musical pitch to the Major Arcana Tarot cards, astrological signs, planets, elements, and the Tree of Life.

The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, the O.T.O., Thelema, and the B.O.T.A. utilize these pitch correspondence systems along with various other mystical, hermetic, and occult traditions.
