RUTH HEFLIN SINGING IN THE SPIRIT -

The first time I ever heard Ruth Heflin, I felt something pulled inside of me. I didn't really even recognize that kind of pull... I had never really attended a church where worship was anything other than the precursor to the sermon. "Preacher gonna preach" I had no idea even a remote idea that this would be something I would be called to but it drew me. I was a worship leader and I considered myself to be somewhat of a worshiper but when I heard this, I realized I fell short. I was ignorant of what the presence of God really was. I know nothing about the Glory of God. Something exploded inside of me. I was telling my pastor about this book she had written so my Pastor ordered her book "Glory" for me. I was new to a lot of this and I didn't realize that he had already experienced this kind of Glory that she was talking about.

I had not experienced anything even remotely close.

I could not even fathom this kind of worship coming out of me. but I have to tell you. It's really what I long to do. I'm tired of needing to prime the crowd... get people riled up and ready to worship. I truthfully would just rather be in a room with a few people who really want to worship and really want to go some place in that Glory... who come to be participators, not spectators... I don't even fully understand it yet. I'm no Ruth Heflin that's for sure but when I hear her, I see myself doing that.
