How to Make up a Nucleus Colony - Mated Queen

In this video, I show you how to make up a nucleus colony of bees, using a mated queen.

I focus on the following important points:

1. Not feeding nucs if left in the same apiary
2. Having sufficient brood, worker bees, nurse bees and stores to survive as a separate colony
3. Shaking in more bees than you think is necessary and workers will return to their original colony
4. Making sure the queen is fully caged with food but with the entrance taped shut
5. Returning after 7 days and knocking down any queen cells before you release the queen (remove the tape).
