The Combat Stress Program | Urban Warfare Center Documentary | David Burnell

This documentary explores the Combat Stress Program at the Urban Warfare Center, founded and funded by David Burnell from 2002–2012. During its operation, the facility trained thousands of military personnel, police officers, federal agents, and tactical professionals in the realities of urban combat, stress inoculation, communication, teamwork, and survivability under extreme pressure.

Using realistic force-on-force scenarios, live role players, and high-intensity combat simulations, the program exposed participants to the chaos of close-quarters conflict in order to build confidence, decision-making ability, and operational effectiveness under stress.

This film captures authentic training evolution of a U.S. Army unit going through the program and the, emotional responses, leadership challenges, and the lessons learned when human beings are pushed to the limits of fear, fatigue, confusion, and combat pressure.

The purpose of the Combat Stress Program was simple: Increase the survivability of soldiers and operators through stress inoculation and by teaching core principles that survive first contact with the enemy.
