My Life with a Chronic Disease | Allysha Yasuda | TEDxUIdaho

What does it look like to have a chronic disease? We all have a fixed mold in our minds of what this looks like and we attempt to see if the people around us fit into it. How can this accommodate everyone? Allysha counters these ideas and explains her story with Type 1 diabetes and what can happen when you take your burdens and turn them into blessings.
Allysha Yasuda was born in Fruitland, Idaho. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in microbiology and is applying to medical school. Her mantra for the year is: read more, run more and travel more. Throughout her time at University of Idaho, she was involved in her research lab that investigates Type 2 diabetes, a member of her sorority Alpha Phi, Career Services and Resonate Church. She also works with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
