Equal Education says performance agreements will hold the Basic Education Minister to account

Civil society group Equal Education has welcomed the Pretoria High Court's ruling that this year's matrics do not have to rewrite the Maths and Physical Science papers.
The Department ordered the rewrite after the two papers were leaked hours before they could be written.
Equal Education, which is critical of Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga's performance, is also happy President Cyril Ramaphosa will be signing performance agreements with Ministers. EE says it will allow close monitoring of the Minister's performance and will also allow interest groups to measure her performance against outcomes outlined in her contract.
The group says although the latest provincial school infrastructure reports show some progress in delivery, provincial education departments have failed miserably to comply with the 2020 Norms and Standards for Public School Infrastructure.
