META SLAVES: The NFT Slave Auction

Slavery, in the 21st century. Many of us would think of slavery as slavery to technology, slavery to our devices. My biggest worry being a person who’s grown up in both the 20th and 21st century, the last generation to “play outside” I worry that technology has made us less empathetic to human emotions and the human experience. With company like Facebook creating metaverses with users having to put out "curated" version of themselves that (can) exclude the imperfections of their real lives . In a way, technology might genuinely be geting the way of people's ability to create "authentic" connections, since "being empathic" demands that we as individuals step outside of ourselves.

But how might this phenomenon, of always having our phones and access to social media at our fingertips, impact the experience of being human? Should we be at all wary of technology's rapid rise?

Well I never thought id live to see the day that the meta human be auctioned for ownership like the slave trade of the mid 17th century. Well that’s what happened with the META SLAVE NFT’s that had black people across the globe enraged. But you probably haven’t even heard about it, because it was not so promptly removed. The selling of computer generated pictures of black people with assigned numbers to the highest bidder. But are these just pictures of black people for sale or is its existence and symbolism so much more sinister?

As technology advances and augmented reality becomes more and more of our human experience. Where do we draw the lines of morality and artistic expression? How far is too far? And in the 21st century do we really own anything?
