Ashok Saraf (born 4 June 1947) is an Indian actor and comedian. He has appeared in many Hindi and Marathi movies for since the late 1960s Ashok Saraf is known mainly for comedy movies, many of which he appeared in with Laxmikant Berde. Apart from films, Ashok Saraf has also starred in television serials like Yeh Choti Badi Baatein and Hum Paanch (as Anand Mathur).

Ashok Saraf started his career with the Marathi movie Janaki in 1969. Ashok Saraf has starred in television serials like Yeh Choti Badi Baatein and Hum Paanch (as Anand Mathur), which tasted a major success. Ashok Saraf Received Bhojpuri film award for Maika Bitua. In 1977 Ashok Saraf first time Received Filmfare award for Ram Ram Gangaram.

Ashok Saraf Received Screen award for the movie Sawai Havaldar. Ashok Saraf Received Maharashtra government award for the movie Pandu Havaldar. Ashok Saraf affectionately known as "MAMA".

Pandu Hawaldar 1975 gave him a major boost to his career.Where he was must acclaimed then his co-star Dada Kondke who felt sidelined in the film. Only negative role in Hindi film was Jagruti 1992. In 2017 received Filmfare lifetime achievement award for his contribution to Marathi cinema. His good friends are his co stars and directors Laxmikant Berde ,Sachin ,Mahesh Kothare and Sudhir Joshi.

Debuted in Hindi film in Damaad. Formed an unbeatable pair with Laxmikant Berde in Marathi films where they worked in around 50 films. Married to Nivedita Joshi. Son Aniket is a pastry chef. Worked in a bank before becoming full time actor.He would take leaves from work to complete his shoots.When his bank work was suffering due to his leaves he decided to leave the job.
