Beerman Creek String Band at River Theater - Astoria, Oregon - May 12, 2000

The Oregon Coast's longest-running old time string band Beerman Creek was founded in 1974. As it happens, this concert marks exactly the halfway mark in the band's remarkable 52-year career, with five of the seven players here still performing as Beerman Creek 26 years later. This concert took place in an intimate black-box theater without amplification, a nod to the unplugged sound of a living room or back porch setting where this kind of music was played back in the days before recordings, radio or TV, when families and neighbors created their own entertainment.

This was the last of 4 bands that played that night. The hour is late, the atmosphere is loose and informal but enthusiastic, and fortunately one audience member happened to have a camcorder going.
