Wrestling with God - Theophany of Genesis 32 and the Exodus 33 Connection

Today's Torah deep dive is from Genesis 32:3 through the end of chapter 36 (called Parashat Vayishlach, or "and he sent"). In the first part of this portion of Moses, we see what is commonly referred to as a "theophany", which is a supernatural manifestation of the Most High Elohim in a literal, physical form. This is the man with whom Jacob wrestled. Even though we have already seen this concept before in Genesis 18 (Abraham with the three men), we will explore this concept of a theophany more clearly in order to properly understand what is being said in Exodus 33:20.

We will explore the account of when Jacob is reunited with his twin brother Esau, the subsequent incident with Dinah at Shechem, and Jacob's prayer closet of Bethel. There are tons of applications here for us today, and I am excited to explore the Truth together with you. Shalom!
