John Macready played by Willard Parker , a seafaring captain, who has been beached for losing his ship, goes into the salvage-from-wrecked-vessels business with lovable old George Lockhart played by Edgar Buchanan, and is leading the fight against the erection of a lighthouse that would tend to do damage to the salvage business. Macready's brother, Angus, dies in a shipwreck, and Macready begins to suspect that his lovable old partner may be causing the ship wrecks by misdirecting the vessels.
It might be noteworthy to mention that Edgar Buchanan played the part of "Uncle Joe Carson" in The Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction and Green Acres. These were all favorites of mine so I thought I would mention them. I can certainly see where his character in this movie bares some resemblance to the loveable old guy he would play in these future sitcoms.
